A story of true love.
I fell onto the soft grass, surrounded by little dandelions. I left my snow white, flowing gown spread all around me. My midnight black hair hung all around my shoulders, caressing my lower back. My bangs were cut to my eyebrows, but tonight I pinned them back on each side.
I took in the fresh, mountain air and smiled to myself. Two years ago, I bumped into a boy here in this meadow. His name was Ian and he’d ventured off from his family’s camping trip to be alone. Though he claimed he didn’t mind being alone, with just me. And honestly, I didn’t either. We were fifteen then and we’d grown so much since then.
“Alice?” I heard someone whisper. I sat up and looked over my shoulder. I stood up and turned gracefully towards the sound. There stood Ian, gaping mouth and all.
“Do you like it?” I asked. I gathered the end of my ivory dress in my left hand and carefully made my way towards Ian. He dressed himself in a tuxedo and held in his hand a simple, yellow flower he picked on his way to our meadow.
“I love it, Alice. You are so beautiful.” Ian whispered. He tucked a loose strand of my hair behind my ear and placed the yellow flower in between them. He took my face in his hands gently and stared into my sea green eyes.
“So beautiful.” He whispered. I almost didn’t catch it he spoke so soft. I felt a small tear escape my eye and saw Ian’s sapphire blue eyes glance towards the tear. He tilted my chin ever so slightly and kissed the single tear.
I then felt Ian’s lips join my own. Our kiss flowed together like symphony. Ian let go and stroked my cheek. I wrapped my arms around his neck and leaned into him. He enclosed me into his own arms. I kissed his neck lightly and snuggled my face into his collar. I closed my eyes. We stood still, silent and let the chirping of the birds and the rustle of the fall leaves fill the evening with sound. The wind picked my hair up and swirled it all around, until it settled back down onto my back.
I felt warmth seep through my hair and touch my back. I lifted my head out of Ian’s collar and looked up into his face. His face was an orange-pink tint, covered in the sunset’s colors. I turned my face out to face the sunset as well. The rays danced across our faces, filling them with love and happiness.
Ian’s hand rubbed my hair, from root to tip. His hand lingered there within the dip in my back. I turned back to see that his face was an inch from my own.
“I love you.” He said. Ian’s face was filled with seriousness and his eyes kept searching my own face. I couldn’t help but note his giddiness, hiding beneath the mask.
“And I love you, Ian.” I replied. I reached into him and pressed my lips to his. Ian smiled every time he pulled back a few centimeters for a fragment of air. The kiss became a little more rushed every second. At some point during all of this, Ian laughed.
“What?” I accused. Ian just smiled and kissed me again. Once again Ian laughed, though this time he couldn’t stop. He laughed so hard, he fell onto the ground. I sat beside him in the grass and rested my hand on his chest.
Ian settled down and looked deep into my eyes. He wrapped his hand around my neck and prompted me down towards him. I fell on top of him, laughing. We stopped after a minute and I rested my head on his chest. I felt his stifle a giggle.
I sprang up and stared him down. “Okay, okay.” He said. “Does any of this seem familiar to you?” I knew exactly what he meant. The first day we met, we did the same thing. Minus the formal wear. I smiled a big grin and laid back into the grass, beside Ian.
Eventually, we fell asleep with my head on his shoulder and his arm draped around me. Then there was our hands. We held each other’s hand, which they rested on his stomach. And there we lay, together, asleep into the night.
