A childhood experience from my childhood thoughts
Revival

This week there's a revival.
You know it's summer time.
I'll go and seek forgiveness
for all of my worldly crimes.

The thieves will pray their lives back
if only for a week.
The blessed will spread their arms out
and prey upon the meek.

The farmer wears his clean boots
and jeans that are still blue.
He offers dollars he can not spare
because his heart is true.

We gather in a big bright tent,
and slowly do we roast.
The summer heat melts flesh to seat,
and our skin dries up like toast.

After service we'll hang around
and gossip in our groups,
forgetting all the preacher said
and rarely telling truths.

Once again tomorrow night,
we'll pray until we tucker.
You see, after we confess our sins
is a home made ice cream supper.

This week there's a revival.
We'll all seek to forgive.
The sheep will show from near and far
all with different motive.
