Poem about the struggle to hold on to hope.
In the deep end of the pool now
Barley floating
Yet,
Still afloat
My arms are tired.
My legs are cramping.
My breath is shallow.
In the deep end of the pool.
I don’t know how much longer
I can keep myself up.
Should I surrender?
And let the cool deep water
Take me under
In her embrace.
Or should I continue fighting?
Sinking and floating
In the deep end of the pool.
I want to surrender,
I’m so tired.
Stop fighting.
Breath.
I swim to the edge of the pool
And climb out.
Tomorrow will be the same.
