An ambiguous look at the various parasites of life. (prose)
You don't always see me, but you know I'm here
I always see you, and I definitely know you're here
I don't care if you say no
I don't care if you don't like me
All you can do is
Watch me as I slither through you.

You have so much to lose
So much to give up
Try to keep it and I'll take it away
Because I have so much to gain, so much to have
And I will have anything I can reach.

Who am I?

Am I the worm in your gut, a hidden horror inside of you?
Am I the fear and doubt in your mind, robbing you of your will and happiness?
Am I the enslaver, working you for all you can give and returning nothing?
Am I the thief, who robs stray innocents who wander too close and leave shaken and money-less?

It doesn't matter who exactly I am.

I am the parasite, and I take from you and you give to me
You can pretend I'm not there, oh yes you can,
But you can never get rid of me, and I'll always be there for more
And I never have enough. I will take, take, take,
TAKE until you have no more and I can take no more
Because
I am the parasite, and I take

I take

I take

From you.
