Natalie needs to figure out how to become a wizard.
The new revalation just brought complete shock. I had my life planned out. Now, I had to to move on. Leave Drake. And become what I was supposed to be. A wizard.

How does one become a wizard? Do they mumble a few spells and that's it? I already know their language. I could translate. No. That would never work. I have to learn the way that they learned. But which way is that? Sciss said they went through education. Like we did. Not everyone. Some were home schooled, meaning, they learned from home. Wow. It took me that long to put that together? I think that is the best route for me. Then I could still practice being a druid while becoming a wizard. But that still leaves me needing a teacher. But whom?

Talia says I have a month to figure out how I'm going to do this. She said she would help. So, I have plenty of time. But I think it's best to be out of here within a week. Any longer and I think I'll break down. A wizard. Why? Why couldn't I have just been a druid? We'll see in time. But for now, there is no mourning. I get to be something no druid has ever been. I can leave the forest and meet so many more new people! It just might take a little help. Good luck to me.

So what am I good at? Simple enough place to start. I am good at magic. I am a talented flyer. I can sing, dance, and get along well with people, without much instruction. Just tell me the basics and I can figure out the rest.  But this leaves me where? No where!!!! There's always the madrigols. What do they call themselves? Wering? Berings. Why? I have absolutely no idea. How ridiculous is that? Bering. Ugh. Makes me sick just saying that. But it's the best place to start.

Berings are performer druids. They are great to watch but being a berer is not a proper occupation. Everyone knows that. Even if they are entertaining. It won't be permanent. No.  Berings are apparently very popular with the wizards now. That's mainly how we are connected with the wizards. So yes, they are important, but singing and dancing in front of others isn't quite how I'd like to spend my life. I mean, I am a white dru--.

No, I'm not a white druid. I am a cranberry druid. Another curious thought, where is cranberry within the ranks of being a druid? Higher than orange? Is it in between orange and green? It can't be lower than yellow. I suppose that's another thing I will have to figure out. Hmph.

I glanced around the fountain. Talia said I could stay there if I needed guidence. And right now, I needed guidence. I was all alone. Suddenly the archways, the dust, and the tree didn't seem so great anymore. It just seemed like another place, another part of my life. Something too far out of reach that previously seemed so close. The aura didn't make me pulsate with life. It all seemed empty. Hollow.

So I waited. I waited for the dust to come around me and strip the color off of my clothing and turn it pure. I waited for my hair to become blond and my eyes to turn green and my ears to become pointy. I waited for my wand to become part of my broom again and the runes to change to talk about the greatest head tribeswoman in all history. I waited. And waited. And nothing happened! Nothing.

I spat into the fountain. The ultimate disrespect. I relished the dust collecting anround my spit becoming an incoherant blob in the fountain. That's what it got for treating me this way! That's what it got for ruining my life! That's what it got for making me a comoner! I let the rage fill me. I smiled at the prospect of forcing the dust to take back its choice. That's when it had enough.

The golden dust began to whirl itself into a twister. It raged upwards striping all of the leaves off of the tree. The roots began to dislodge from the ground. My hair kept whipping in front of my face. The funnel began to expand. It enveloped me whole. I went spinning upwards and landed. Hard. I wasn't at the fountain anymore. I was at my favorite place in the forest. A reading spot where I poured through books. I had them piled in an archway, so high, I could walk under it and still have three feet of head room. The tunnel had stopped spinning but still stopped in front of me. It began to float upwards and revealed a woman in front of me.

I shouldn't say a woman. The woman is more like it. My godess. She had wings that spawned from her back. Brown hair and blue eyes, like mine. She was wearing a cranberry dress and black boots. She was a mirror of me.(Except for the boots) How did I not see this before?

Simple. In all of the portrayels I had seen of her before, she was wearing a white dress. But, what is the meaning of this?

"Natalie, don't be angry." Her voice sounded so smooth and soft.
"But I feel angry." Mine sounded so pale compared to hers.
"I understand. But you have become something that just being a druid will not make you happy."
"But I was happy. I was happy."
"At first you would have been happy. And then you would've been a great leader."
"But after that?"
"Some would be thrilled. And some won't. The main battle would've been how you think."
"How I think?"
"You can think for yourself. You don't need a ceromony or a reading to do so. The customs would seem hindersome to you. You would try to disable the choice ceromony. I have been trying to lead leaders to do so for hundreds of years, but none of them have had the thinking to do so."
"So my ideas would have been crazy to them?"
"Yes. Natalie, this change will need to occur over a long time, otherwise the druids will split. I want druid society to stay together, unlike so many other societies in the world. We shall endure the ages unlike other cultures. And when the world needs rebuilding, we shall rebuild it. That's why we needed to become part of the world."
"You showed Talia that."
"Yes. She also has your thinking, but she also understands the need to do it over time."
"And that's why she would be a better leader than I going through that change."
"Yes. That is the only reason why I did not make you the leader."
"I understand and agree. Well, I know I should agree."
"But I did not choose for you to become a wizard."
"Excuse me?"
"It's true. Although I do like how that was added in."
"If you don't mid me asking. How did I choose this?"
"When you made your broom you let the magic completely guide you."
"Yes, that's how you're supposed to do it."
"You made your wand at the same time. The hair of the unicorn and the feather of the phoenix you put in both split into the other part of the broom to make your wand."
"Ok. But why did I choose that?"
"Simple. You could be with people that have the same thinking as you. And so that you would be happy."
"And how did I know this, without knowing this?"
"You just knew."

I just sat there for a long while before needing to talk again. I simply needed to take it all in.

"Am I an angry person?"
"What?" She seemed utterly confused by the question.
"I need to know, am I an angry person?"

It was her turn to pause for a moment.

"No. I think you are just hurt. It's not that you are leaving your culture behind, it's just you know you will miss it."
"I will."

"What about Drake?" I asked.
"He is going to be a wizard as well."
"Why wasn't he next to me when the ceromony ended?"
"You do realize you were in the ceromony for three days?
"What?!?!"
"Yes, apparently you were knocked out by the dust."
"Oh, yeah. Why did it react that way?"
"Simple, it was waiting for your order."
"My order?"
"The dust was once a person, the most powerful druid of all time. Well, of that time."

I was familiar with the tale. The druid decided that he would lend his wisdom to all future generations, so he turned himself into the dust.

"Of that time?"
"Yes, I will admit, you are a very powerful *cough* the most powerful *cough* druid."
"So..."
"Lesser druids always await the order of a hgiher druid."
"And so the dust was willing to almost kill me?"
"That was an accident."
"Right."

We talked like this for a long time.

"So, I hear you want to join the berings?"
"Do you listen to all of my thoughts?"
"Only the interesting ones."
"I can sing, dance, and fly. Plus they know more about wizarsd than any other druid."
"Rational. But I heard your dislike for them too."
"Well..."
"It's not a lesser job, and it does not make them a lesser being. You very well know every druid, person, and being has a purpose. I actually consider some of the lowest ranking people to be my highest posession."

That stung. I knew she was utterly correct.

"I'm sorry." I wispered.
"It's ok. You didn't know any better. Those older druids have created that thought process. I took my anger out on you. I'm sorry."
"Thank you."
"For what?"
"Making me feel better. For rationalizing with me. I know everyone thinks I can do anything by myself, but I can't. I need help just like everyone else. That's why I lo--"
"Don't say that you love Drake. You only like Drake."
"What?"
"Drake isn't who you think he is. In this place, yes. He is loving and caring. But he isn't truely."
"But. He has never--"
"Shown his true colors in front of you. He has been cruel to the people lower than him. He isn't as kind as you think."
"I will admit. I'm hurt. I really think--"
"No. He isn't. I'm sorry."

"You know what you were saying about the berings before?"
"Yes."
"I always thought they were really cool. And to tell you the truth, I was kinda jelous of them."
"I know you were."
"One last question."
"Go ahead."
"Where is cranberry in the ranking of druids?"
She laughed.
"Can't you tell? It's the highest rank there is!"
"But I can't be on the same level as you.
"No, you can't see the actual color I'm wearing, well, because you are not my rank. Only I can see this color."
"Oh. Ok."
I smiled. I knew I was ready. Truely ready to start this part of my life.

My godess took my hands. "You will be a great druid. And a talented wizard. Be brave. I know you are."
And just like that, she disappeared.
