Dear Disability

Today you wake me up and I feel a bit rough,
I know that once you have connected to your walking frame,
You will be able to walk me to my control panel for my lift so that we can go downstairs
You know that I have been sore these last few months
You have let me know this and not let me forget it,
Although now you have had some steroids you should be able to relax
Can we manage to have a walk today?
Don't worry we wont be doing marathons just yet
Maybe tomorrow.
Thank you for being with me every step of the way

Today you have made yourself known and have hit my spine with Arthritis,
At first I was angry because I didn’t know why my back was so so painful,
You had just gone through your second spine operation
You seemed to happy to start with,
I thought we had finally come to the end of the pain journey
It now seems that you had other ideas

Guess what through you haven’t got away with giving me loads of pain,
No I decided that I wanted to stop the pain before you took over
I went to see a Spinal Consultant he offered to give me some steroids.
Well you had your steroids you did me proud,
Why you ask, well you didn’t send me into spasm like you did last year.
I therefore thank you for that, yesterday you still made me feel sick
I spoke to my Physiotherapist
You are making good progress but we have to take it easy
Do you understand what I am saying?

Today you have allowed me to have a pain free day
So far it seems to me that the drug treatment that you have been given has helped you to go away.
I am so pleased that you have allowed me to walk in the garden today
All we need to sort out is sleeping all night,
Now that would be good
All we need to do now it slowly start back with Physio
Although you knew that, we will be ok once we start moving again
Today is a good day and who knows about tomorrow
