I wrote this poem in honor of my grandparent's fiftieth wedding anniversary.

Fifty years ago,
On this momentous day,
Two people made a sacred vow,
And changed the world forever.

This vow they made was special,
And great things came from it.
Children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren,
All cared for with tender love.

Together they worked for things they needed,
And though this work was hard,
They continued on with all they had,
And life gave its reward.

Throughout the years trials came and went,
As trials tend to do,
But laughter, joy, and happiness,
Still exists, and will continue.

Fifty years ago,
A couple fell in love.
Today we celebrate that love,
And its eternal light.

Dedicated with love to my grandparents,
On both sides of the family.
Fifty years of marriage,
Fifty years of love.
