My first attempt at a sonnet
Could we watch this world ignite?
Could we shatter this fractured city?
Imagine the sky set ablaze at night,
Would you like to burn it with me?
Can the eternal fire in your eyes
Change the season of a winter heart?
Turn it to a blaze that will not die
A perpetual summer in the dark
But the dawn will snuff our dreams
And the sun will smother the moon
It’s coming faster than it seems
It’s approaching much too soon…
The world truly looks so pretty
Now would you like to burn it with me?
