A sonnet about how I perceive the end of the world.
I sit here watching the city, it burns.
I hear the screams and see my death now loom.
Terror fills my body, I hear singing.
A moments hesitation marks my doom.

I hear the fires cry their sad death songs.
Men in masks push through the crowds of people.
Men armed to the teeth, shoving through scared throngs.
Then intend for an illegal repo.

The screaming, the burning, my entire
body is hurting. I cry while I die,
hear the screams as I lie in the fire.
My soul is leaving, I scream and ask why.

Hands grasp my own, I feel sweet release now.
Sounds from my saviours tell me that I am.
