-an evil beast threatens to attack and overcome two unsuspecting characters

The darkness pervaded over the forest floor as the moonlight crept through the boughs and branches that caught the light, filtering through, capturing anything that was in its glare; the smallest creature couldn't escape from the glow; as the mist grew and became their only covering…

… they realized that they had been accosted by an atomic fart. The mist became a cloud and the glow began to turn red as they tried to run from it’s pungent light. They ran as fast as they could, until their breath was all but sucked away by the persistent stench that pursued them through the forest. How would they ever shake this tumultuous toot? How would they rid themselves of this putrid poof? Indeed, would they live to smell again?

Gasping for clean air they reached inside the pack they had brought with them to carry supplies. They rifled through the bag, weakening more and more with each movement and wondering if maybe this was the end of their olfactory senses. One of them found what they were looking for and lifted it into the air high above his head as if hoping that the sight of it alone would drive the evil mist back. He didn’t really want to have to use it but the time was fast approaching for the decision to be made as the mist encroached on the twosome, bearing down with an awesome pong.

Time had run out. The one-who-would-be-hero dragged himself across the forest floor to cover the body of the one who had succumbed to foul beast hovering over them. He lifted his weapon and with a war cry that would not be choked, he struck the red head of the stick of salvation down the bark of the nearest tree.

Instantly, the match lit and the lingering cloud retreated, beaten by it’s own biological makeup. The two lying on the floor rose to their feet and, overjoyed, they realized that the caustic cloud would never reek it’s havoc again. There was just one problem: the forest had disappeared.
