A poem of trials
It twists and winds and doubles back,
It makes you long for all you lack,
It makes you wish you weren't alone,
It makes you long for a lost home,
It brings despair and then delight,
It gives your warmth or rainy nights,
It brings you peach when on the run,
And gives you hell when you're all done,
Laying in the bed of dreams,
You remember back when without means,
It gave you food and opportunities,
That it seemed should never come to be,
Then when night came it was a realm,
Where thieves and robbers escaped the hounds,
You damned that road for all it dealt,
Erasing all the anguish felt,
But on your bed now years gone by,
You thank that road and miles tried,
That made you who you are today,
And never will there be reason to say,
He lived his life in greed and fear,
For in reality through the years,
He lived his life of truth and gold,
Led by the trial of that long road.
