this is based on a dream I had.
He walked up the stairs to his apartment, tired from a grueling night at work. As he stuck his key into the lock on his door, he noticed the light resonating from the curtained window. In his mind he knew he didn’t leave it on before he had left for the day. He was living alone at the time so no one, to his knowledge, could’ve turned it on. It didn’t seem to bother him, though. All he wanted to do was get inside and relax. He opened the door and the first thing he noticed was a huge banner covering the entire dining room wall. It said things like “welcome home”, “I love you” and “thank you” accompanied with a big red rose. There you were, standing on a dining room chair, putting the last corner up with a tack. You saw him standing there, looking at the banner. You jumped down, walked over to him with the biggest smile on your face and gave him the sweetest hug you had ever given anyone. You kissed him. You told him you had a surprise for him.
You walked with him to the kitchen nearby. He opened the microwave as you had instructed. Inside there were three Pizza Hut boxes: one with boneless buffalo wings, one with chicken alfredo pasta and the last with an unknown type of pizza. You finished washing a few plates at the kitchen sink. You asked him if he wouldn’t mind serving you, and he said that he didn’t. Before he could get some plates down from the cabinet above the microwave, you told him that you had went grocery shopping as well. He smiled at you because you were smiling at him and you had this look in your eyes that you were happy. You looked as though you were so much in love with him. Out of curiosity, he turned around to look in the freezer to see what it was you had bought. All that was in there was tub after tub of ice cream. He smiled. He looked in the refrigerator and found even more cartons of the frozen desert. He laughed a little as he started to count them. You walked up behind him. You embraced him like you did when you were together and he would cook for you. He felt the warmth of your body pressed against his. He felt that love that illuminated from you once before all over again. You kissed him on the back of his neck. At that moment, you and he were happy.
He woke up.
