We are who we are....
I should have been
a magic man,
the highest and most respected
in the clan,
making potions
for good and evil.
Maybe I should have lived
in medieval
Times and been a shining knight
Of old --
So courageous, so gallant,
so bold.
Rescuing damsels
in distress,
Enjoying feasts
over my success.
Or maybe I should have been
a classical composer
in old France
Where a girl, hearing my music, feels her
Heart floating above
the elegant terrace.
Or a profound poet
in lovely Paris
Writing poems of love, lust,
and life
of loss, learning, luck,
and strife,
Wooing women
and inspiring men.
Or maybe a gladiator
born to kill
Slaughtering lions and foe
at the people's will.
Or a shooting rock star
Living fast and dying young
with an insatiable soul;
must have sex, drugs,
and rock and roll.
Or a neurosurgeon
saving lives,
Earning billions of dollars, Going through several wives.
Or
a conquistador
going boldly where no man has ever gone
before.
Or a cowboy in the wild, wild
West
With whiskey, women, guns and
Fiestas.
Or a pro football player
hitting hard,
catching the ball, kicking record-setting
Goals.
Or the most famous man in history. Or...me?
