This is one of the first things I wrote in Creative Writing class.
The silence was tangible, pressing even. The scratch of a pencil. The rub of an eraser. So, this was what creative writing class was like.
She sat there, pencil in hand, ready to begin. No words came. Other pencils scratched their way across paper, but not hers. This was supposed to be easy for her. She loved to write. So why now did her imagination have to quit? Heck, three of her favorite friends were in the class. they were the entire class, so why was it so hard for her to write?
Quietly, she looked up from her blank page The other girl in the class had an almost full page. Yet the girl's page remained blank. The boy beside her worked diligently, pencil scratching away. In front of her, the other guy was hunched over, noticing nothing else. Everyone but her was hard at work.
Relax, she thought to herself. It's nothing. This class is fun. Your friends are here, eager to do the same as you. Write about them, how much they inspire you. You didn't even know they liked to write. So, write about them.
Determined, she put her pencil to the paper and wrote.
