(part 1 of quite a lot)
It happened about a month ago.
When the house that I grew up in, the house that I have known and loved for my entire life, burnt to shreds. There was nothing left over and nothing saved.
I was supposed to be on my own, in the house. But I heard noises, coming from the kitchen downstairs. At first, I thought I was hearing things, so I just ignored it. But then, the noises just kept continuing and growing louder.
I got up and walked out of my room. Yes, the noises were definitely coming from downstairs. I lived in a big house, with lots of places that anyone could have hidden in, so as I walked carefully downstairs, I kept my eyes open. But I knew the intruder was still in the kitchen, the noises were continuing.
I got to the bottom of the stairs, and the noises had stopped. The intruder had probably heard me and decided to make a run for it. But they wouldn't be able to get out of the house without me knowing, I was blocking the way to the door. I slowly walked down the hallway. I was scared. Who ever was in my kitchen could easily arm themselves, and I was defenceless. But I had to find out who was in my house.
I was halfway across the hallway, when a burning smell entered my nostrils. At the end of the hallway, smoke started to appear coming from around the corner. The kitchen!
I ran to the end of the hallway, and I breathed in, my lungs filled with smoke. I went to the kitchen door. Through the window, I could see it...the orange flames. Someone was in there. The person who had set my kitchen on fire had to be still in there! I hadn't seen anyone go out the house, or go past me.
'Hello!?' I shouted, big mistake, a load more smoke entered my lungs.
Who ever was in there, it was to late for them, the whole kitchen was on fire, no one could have survived in that fire for this long.
More smoke was coming out of the door and it was becoming hard to see.
I ran back to the hallway, just in time. The door fell and the fire started to spread, it was growing, faster and faster each second. I ran down the hallway and to the door. I couldn't breathe, and I couldn't see.
I ran to the door. I expected it to be unlocked, and that would have been how the intruder had gotten into the house, but the door was locked. I could feel the heat of the fire on my back.
I turned, the fire had nearly reached me. I looked around frantically for the keys. There they were. Just at the edge of the fire. I reached over and grabbed it just as the fire reached my arm.
'AHHH' I screamed in pain.
I pulled my arm back, the fire had burnt all of my arm and I was in so much pain.It happened about a month ago.
