This is a poem I wrote a long time ago, it's a twisted love letter of sorts.
Where is my love for you?
Etched in the skin of my hand
Put there by a trance-like state and a weapon
I woke up and saw the bloody tissues and the stains in my pillow
And I thought of you

Where is my love for you?
Embedded deep in the meat of my face
Below my cheekbones
The ghosts of so many tears having traveled those roads countless times
I woke up and saw oily hair matted to my scalp
And I thought of you

Where is my love for you?
Rising with the ashes of my incinerated sheets
They were tainted with memories of something I never had
Flashes of a face
Or a touch I never felt
I woke up and saw the whole twisted mess lying on the floor
And I thought of you

Where is my love for you?
Penetrating my eardrums with every bass movement from my headphones
I made that playlist to help me sleep
And it does
But not before drowning me in my own sweat and tears for hours on end
I forgot to set the sleep timer and it was running all night
I woke up and saw the battery was dead
And I thought of you
