I wrote this poem to honor my grown up son and the man he has become
The Gift of a Son

The stillness was broken by his cry
Mother’s joy brought tears to her eyes
She’d received the gift of a son
A precious life had just begun

Suddenly a man stands so tall and proud
Mother’s joy rises to the clouds
Strong and kind, he is the gift of life
Full of joy and love in the midst of strife

As he fills the place designed for him only
He brings to God such glory
As he so eagerly races to manhood
No fear of things not understood

The days of worms and frogs have passed
Mother knew they wouldn’t last
Thank you, God, for the gift of a son
Thank You for giving me this special one

Thank You, Son, for the joy
You brought in the form of a little boy
You bring such pride to my heart
And you have from the start
