A religious woman and her thoughts. Contains religious reference.
Well Worn Book
She is sitting in a chair before the fire
With a cup of tea on the small wooden table beside her
A tear drop falls from her face
Like a diamond shimmering as it falls into her lap
On to the small worn leather book that lies there
The book has been passed down for many generations
Worn by decades of daily use
Tenderly she holds the book
Stroking the spine and
Caressing the pages as she turns them
As she reads her beloved book
The diamond tears continue to fall
Sparkling in the firelight
She makes certain no more tears land on the lovely little book
The beautiful writings are her most prized possession
She reads it every morning and evening
Each day she cries as she reads
For the suffering of a man beaten on a cross
And the hope that it fills her heart with
For the friendship that grows stronger with every word
She cries for the joy of being loved unconditionally
And having a certain and marvelous future
And for the wonder of countless miracles
But mostly she cries for the amazing beauty and glory of
Her God
His Son
And the ever present Holy Spirit
So there she sits like every other day
Carefully reading her most precious belonging
It is not the book she prizes
It is the story
The words of hope, courage, love, sorrow, joy and friendship
It is the words she cherishes
The truth that comforts her
