This is I. It is a soliloquy in words.
She steps up in front of her dusty, old mirror that lie nailed to the wall. She opens her eyes gracefully as a tear rolls down her face as if it were a rain drop gliding down a window. She sobs as the tears drip down her cheeks one by one like paint dripping off of a brush. You would think that she would be the most confident young woman, but what she sees in the mirror is not how people see her. Through her eyes she portrays a totally different image of herself. As many wish if only they could be like her, she wishes she could be something else. She walks around posing as if she is always content with her life, but deep down she is scared. The truth is no one can see the sadness behind her smile, the fear locked behind her eyes, and the lies behind her words when she assures everyone that everything is "OK". Locked up horrified memories are tearing her heart from the inside out. She constantly struggles to win a battle against herself that seems as if it were impossible to conquer. No one can see her pain nor can they feel it. At times she will find herself falling asleep in her own tears as she spends her nights drowning in despair. Those nights she awakes with puffy red eyes that she cannot shy away from. She does not want any sympathy from others. She cannot move on from her past. But the next day she awakes with the sun shining and jubilant flowers sprouting prepares her for another misleading gruesome internal battle. To this woman I can relate to because that woman is I.
