things get scary for Oliver and paige
Oh crap. My mind was racing. I was four days late. My dad was going to kill me. I was waiting on Oliver to come and get me and we were going out to dinner. I was going to tell him then. I was so nervouse. Semster Exams were this week, and then we would be on Christmas break. I was so nervouse. What was I going to do.
"Paige, Oliver is here," I heard my dad call from the living room.
"I'm coming," I called back. I grabbed my purse and phone and headed to the living room.
"Now where all are you to going tonight?" Dad asked Oliver.
"Dinner and a movie," he replied.
I hugged and kissed my dad good-bye and we were on our way. Once we got in the truck I looked at Oliver, and sighed.
"What's wrong?" He asked putting the truck into gear.
"I'm late," I said.
He got gosht white and kept looking foward. I was scared.
"How late are you?" He finally asked after a minute.
"Four days," I chocked. I began to cry. "Dads going to kill us."
"Just calm down, we don't know anything yet. After dinner we will go buy a pregnancy test and then we will know more. For now lets just go to dinner, and enjoy the night," he said. He never looked away from the road. His face was blank. I could tell he was scared to.
We went to dinner. The whole time we were quiet. Neither one of us said a word. We just ate and then left. Oliver stopped at the store and we both walked in.
"I'm not sure about this," I said. "Everyone knows everyone. Someone is going to see us and tell my dad."
"Well, it's the only way to find out," Oliver said.
He was right. We had to get a test to know for sure. Together we made it threw the store with out seeing anyone we knew. Once back out in the truck I stuffed the test in my purse. I was still shacking.
"You can take it when we get to the movies. We can then watch the movie and then check it once its over," Oliver finally said.
"That sounds like a plan," I said.
There had never been a silence like this between us. We always had something to say to each other. Now nothing. Was this the end of us? Once we got the theater Oliver went to buy our tickets, and I went to the bathroom. I peied on the stick. What would it say? That little stick held my whole life in it's hands. I meet up with Oliver in the lobby and we walked to the movie. We made it threw half the movie before we left. Our nervouse were just to much. We had to know.
"Check it," Oliver said as we reached the truck.
"Okay," I said digging in my purse for the test.
I slowly pulled it out, and looked down at it. My heart was racing as I turned it over in my hand.
"It's negative!" I shouted, and dropped the test to hug Oliver.
"Swhee," he sighed. "That was a close one. We need to use protection."
"That's right, I think tomorrow I'll talk to dad about going to the lady doctor," I said.
"You know he's going to freak," Oliver said opening the door to the truck.
"Its better than being pregnant," I said. "And that's what I'll tell him."
We went to our hang out spot and talked till it was time to go home. Tomorrow was Monday, the first day of exams. I had to talk to my dad though. It had to be done. That night I went to be with heavy thoughts on my mind. I knew my dad was going to freak. I knew he was going to be mad.
That morning I got up and got ready like normal and went out to have coffee with dad. I sat down next to him.
"Dad, I think we need to talk," I said turning to him.
"About what?" He asked turning to me. He was already getting mad. I could hear it in his voice.
"I think I need to go to the gynocologist," I said.
"What for?" He asked gohst white.
"Birthcontrol," I mumbled.
"What!" He shouted stanind up and knocking his chair back.
"Well, Oliver and I we umm.. well," I studdered.
"DO WHAT?!" He shouted. I knew Oliver could hear him at his house. I thought the whole neighboorhood heard him.
"Dad, calm down wouldn't you rather I ask about birthcontorl then get pregnant?" I asked tryin to get brave.
"Get in the house now," he demanded. His face was red. He was pissed. "You are to young to be having sex. I will not allow it.You are grounded for three weeks. No driving, no phone, no dog walks, nothing. You will be stuck in this house enless you are at school."
"If I can't drive how will I get to school?" I asked in a smartelic tone. I was already in trouble. The fear was gone, now it was anger coming out. I thought I had done the right thing in asking him, but I guess I was wrong.
"Well, if you want to get smart like that then you can ride with me," He yelled. "The only time you will see that boy is while you are at lunch or in between classes. You two are done. I will not have you out calabaning like a slut."
"I'm not a slut! Oliver and I love each other! I'm growing up weather you want me to or not Dad!" I shouted back.
"Go get your stuff we have to leave for school, and bring me your phone and car keys!" He yelled.
I went to my room and got my stuff. Before I walked out I checked my phone. Sure enough I had a text from Oliver. I texted him back real quick and told him I would see him at school. Then I went to the living room and handed it and my keys to my dad. We left for school.
"Dad, I need to go to the gynocolagist, for a check up any way. I don't see the problem with birth control," I said when we pulled up at the school.
"Go to the cafateria and eat breakfast. I'll see you in class. When school lets out this afternoon you better come straight to my class, or else you will be grounded longer," he said coldly.
I walked to the caffateria alone, in silence. Ten minutes after I got to the caffateria, Oliver, Andrew, and Angel walked in.
"So your grounded huh?" Andrew said sitting down.
"Yup," I sighed.
"How long?" Oliver asked.
"Three weeks," I said taking a bit of my bisket and gravy.
"Three weeks that all of Christmas break," Angel said.
"I know," I frowned. "So when you get in dad's class today be ready."
"Well, at least its just exams,"Avery said walking up. "What did you do any way Paige? You never get grounded."
"I umm... I asked for birthcontorl," I studdered again.
"You mean you to finally did it?" Andrew asked.
"I don't really want to talk about out it," I said. "Dad is pissed. My life is going to be a freaking nightmare, all of christmas. He said I don't even get to walk the dog."
"Wow he is pissed," Oliver said.
"Yeah," I said. The bell rang. "Come on y'all we don't want to be late or we will really be in big trouble."
We all split up and walked to our classes. Oliver and I walked into dad's class. He was sitting at his desk watching everyone walk in.
We took our exams that day and the rest of the week. On the first day of vacation I refused to talk to dad. That day and two more days past when he finally called me to coffee. I was the first time we had coffee since a week and a half ago.
"You're mom would know how to handle this," I said looking out across the yard. "She always knew what to do. The day the doctor said you were a girl she was all excited. She was planning everything she was going to do with you. She wanted you to be homecoming queen, and prom queen and valavictorian. She wanted the world for you. We always planned on having four kids. That's what we were planning on when we built the house here. You mom was so beautful. She had blonde curly hair, and beautiful green eyes just like yours. Even with your new hair color you look so much like her it pains me."
"Dad, tell me about the crash," I asked. He had never really told me about it. I wanted to know.
"Well, one morning your mom was taking you to daycare, when a dumptruck, veared into her lane. She never even saw it coming. She was killed on inpact. You managed to come out with out a scratch. I guess that's why I've always considered you my miricale child," he said. I could see the tears in his eyes. "Next week I'll take you to the gynogologist, and we will see about getting you on birthcontrol. It took you alot of nerve to ask for that, and I do guess you were being responsable. Here take your keys and your phone. I guess I'll unground you."
"Thanks, dad," I said running over and hugging him.
