The Healing Sand

Bunnie Moran, was a beautiful full figured middle aged woman. She seemed to have absolutely everything going for her. She had risen to the position of Chief Nursing Officer of a very respected hospital in Manhattan. She was the mother of 8 extremely good looking and well mannered children. Her house and her husband left a little to be desired but no one could really have everything, right?

Unfortunately looks were really deceiving. Bunnie was a woman who felt as thought her soul was being sucked from her body slowly with each passing day. She put on a good face for the children. She was the picture of health and professionalism who always had a happy face and a positive word of affirmation at work. Yet the truth was that she was melting and drowning in a sea of self doubt and dispair.

One afternoon Bunnie got a call from her sister who had been planning to take a trip to the Cape. Her sister said that she had gotten a cottage but was afraid that she would not be able to go because her knees were so bad. She would never be able to pack and move all the stuff that would be needed. Her traveling companion had just had abdominal surgery 10 days ago and would be absolutely no help. Bunnie thought for a moment, hey I have some time coming I could go and be the RN/pack mule. Lettie was thrilled and immediately jumped at the opportunity to save her vacation.

The day of departure came and Bunnie dutifully loaded the car and unloaded it and she and Lettie rigged it so that they could get all of the things in and still be able to close the hatch. After a much needed nap they were off. The trip was wonderful. the scenery even on the interstate was a refreshing change from the City.

They arrived at the cottage and got the things all their things inside just in time to walk across the street to the beach where they witnessed the most wonderful, incredible fantastic sunset ever. Bunnie kicked off her shoes and walked through the sand. It was a miracle. All of the dispair and self doubt just completely and totally disappeared. She had never been in such a peaceful wonderful place. It was as though she was able to breathe for the first time.

As she explored the island with her sister for the week the feeling deepened and she promised herself that she would make changes in her life to allow her to keep this feeling. She deserved it!
