A poem about Valentine's Day
Valentine’s Day-
The day of the year
Dedicated to love,
And intimate cheer.

When the men all rush,
Like wild, savage beasts,
To buy her great gifts,
And cook lavish feasts.

A day when credits
Are maxed to the limit,
And if she has a request,
He goes through Hell to fill it.

A day when everybody
Thinks they’re poetically fine-
While they serenade their lady
With someone else’s written rhyme.

A day when the dreamers
Lie with tears in their eyes-
Upon lonely beds, Singing
With heartbroken cries.

A day when “I love you”
Is supposed to mean much,
When a guy thinks he’s got it
By calling her “Pretty” and such . .

A day filled with roses,
That remind us of summer days.
Too bad those cheap roses,
Will wither and die in a few days.

A day filled with chocolate;
A sweet, tasty treat-
Bought for four dollars,
From the CVS down the street . .

Advice? Cook her dinner, talk,
You need nothing to buy.
Just lie under the stars,
And let time slowly die.

The perfect gift?
A poem, penned over a week-
Just don’t brainstorm or think,
Just let your heart speak.

And kiss her goodnight,
And, again, express how you feel-
After all, she’s the only thing
That makes your life real.

Don’t be commercial or cheap,
Don’t let gifts help you say-
How much you love her,
This Valentine’s Day.
