And there will come a time, you'll see, with no more tears
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair.
And now I cling to what I knew
I saw exactly what was true
But oh no more.
That's why I hold,
That's why I hold with all I have.
That's why I hold.

-- After The Storm, Mumford and Sons

Isobel, a Messenger for the Faithful Angels, is given an important message to deliver. Asher is sent to intercept and eliminate the message regardless of the costs.

After a horrendous accident, Isobel wakes up in an unknown town surrounded by unknown people and worst of all, she has no memory of who she is. She carves out a solitary life for herself, hoping that her dangerous past - one that left her alone and broken in the middle of nowhere - would not catch up with her.

When Asher fails at his mission the first time he is given another change at redemption but instead of swiftly carrying out his orders, he finds himself pulled in by the fierce independence and equally fierce tenderness that make Isobel an unlikely target. Now, he questions the order he's been given, the Angels who gave him the orders and even his own values as they all contradict the messages from his heart.

(BooYA! Like with I did there? "...messages from his heart". Heh. I gotta come up with a less gag-worthy line...)

TRIVIA:
*Thought* "The Messenger" happens just prior to "The Guardian" and hint at the motivations of some common characters.
