The person I love is addicted to weed
I cannot help but to think
We could have had it all, a drink
Liquid poison burning our throats
We are drowning in our own moats
Words embedded in scars we choke
On laughs hidden behind a joke;
Our relationship, it’s not blithe
You can cut tension with a knife
In turn, tension cuts me, what you said
Sticks, like the addiction you fed
One time, was just a cry for more
Can’t help feeling you want before
And I cannot stay in your past
If you want to make present last
You’ll have to find- future –without
Getting high when you’re in a drought
Instead come down and look around
You’ll find what you need to live, bound
To earth, look in my direction here
Let the foggy smoke disappear
And through your slitting eyes you can see
Euphoric notions within me
I’ll be your heart’s pause between its skips
Now roll me up between your lips
