Being trapped in a nightmare
Voice is stifled in my mind

Realize there is no rewind

Memory; bitter rind

When I’m trapped in a dream

All I want is just to scream

But no one can hear me now

On my knees for demons, bow

Farther from safety, once more

Can’t remember life before

Skin burns in clouds of steam

Strain for a voice to find my scream

I fell asleep alone

Strayed myself away from home

Someone near me takes my hand

I awaken on land

Not my own, I can see

Rings of fire surround me

Landing on my skin, debris

Debris that’s cold like ice

Crackles like board game dice

I shudder then awake

Once more, and find myself make

A loud blood curdling scream

My mom said, “It’s just a dream.”
