its a poem about a girl whose father has left her
She waits by the window looking out towards the street sign

And thinking when will he walk up the drive way

Shes almost ten and shes almost forgotten

But tears remind her of his absence

When do fathers decide to leave and when do they decide to forget?

The love a child gives unconditionally is tooken for granted

The birthday card sits on her nighstand still sealed in the envelope

The card that gave her father the satisfaction he denied her

The kind that could help him forget even more

She whispers harshly  "remember me father? The little girl you called princess?"

her face turns grim as she breathes on the window

this moment in time helps her remember

he forgot shes still here and hes forgot  how to be a father

She waits by the window looking out past the sunset

And wishing he would come home
