Written for one of my best friends before she left for duty.
Soldier Girl

I'm my daddy's baby girl,

My mother's joy and pride,

My little sister looks at me,

With adoration in her eyes,

I'm a college cheerleader,

I'll be a doctor one day,

But it's never too early

For me to serve the USA.

So my cute clothes and jewelry

Become camouflage gear,

My makeup and perfume

Are replaced with sweat and tears,

The thought of fighting scares me,

I don't want to have to kill,

But I'm willing to die

So that freedom never will!

I'll fight for my sisters,

Who call this land their home,

I'll defend the rights that

They think are their own.

So they can elect their leaders,

Have an education and career,

So they can live their lives,

Free from so many fears.

When you talk trash about me,

And say I'm looking for a fight,

I'll keep pushing on,

So that you'll have that right!

I'm gonna do my part

To bring freedom to this world,

Never underestimate me,

I'm an American Soldier Girl!!
