Shakespearean Sonnet
By day we are children, goofy and sweet
But nightfall makes us warriors, hard and strong
Day dreams are gone and forcefully we meet
We wage a war, knowing we both are wrong
Scars reopened and our old wounds made fresh
The pain caused tonight will last for a long time
As we each seek to take our pound of flesh
And pretend we aren't guilty of a crime
Day breaks and we retreat to our own sides
Both hoping that this cycle won't repeat
We are the craziest of all the rides
And at our souls it is starting to eat
Yet despite all of that torment I know
That with work we can heal, and even grow
