I always get my man.
The Search

It’s getting dark again.  Must be late, they will be calling me back soon.  I’ve been out here all day and I’m getting tired.  Wish I could get a scent on where it is.  Feel like I’ve been going in circles all day.

Where is Matt when I need him?  He can never keep up with me; he always stops along the trail to look at things and never finds them.

Yep, they’re calling me back; I can just about hear them.  I think I’ll get off this path and cut through this thicket…

The brush is so thick here, even little old me has a problem.  Never been in here before, boy this grade is steep, hope I don’t fall in a hole again, Matt was as mad as a hornet the last time.

Hold on, what’s this, a dungaree jacket with a big star on the back.  There’s no blood and no tracks.  Looks like it was thrown here.  Wish there was a trail, crawling through this brush is messing with my hair and I can’t move as fast.

Now I can hear Matt's voice clearly, he sounds angry, but I’m on to something here.

An opening, I’m up and running again, let’s check all around the perimeter.  Matt is almost up to me now, I can here him moving in the brush.

I have it now, I call him to follow and I’m racing across the clearing to a big oak tree.  Yep he’s here, there’s tracks and blood.  Matt’s blowing his whistle and all our friends will be here soon.

The body has been out here a long time but the aroma is still pungent and unmistakable.

Matt stuffs a bone in my mouth as I squat and mark the spot.
