Maybe it wasn't what he wanted. He wanted to see it through. story of a suicide pact.
We held hands through it all
Embraced each other to the end
Prepared for this day
Took the steps towards the red mark on the calendar
As one
Together
**
You were always brave
Never grew nervous as the day drew closer
You were ready
Ready to cross the line
Step over to the other side
**
The day came
The big red X on the calendar meeting my eyes
Was I ready?
Ready to hand over my will
The will to pull through
Or to let go
* * * *
We sat on the coast
Staring down the sun together for the very last time
Then you said you would go first
You smiled with pride as you reached for your death sentence
**
I laid you down in the sand
The best place to rest
Then I took the gun out of your hand
As my hand was shaking
I raised it to my head
**
I placed my finger on the trigger
Then began to cry
I left the gun in your hand
With hand over heart
**
I love you.
**
While you will be happy
In heavenly peace with all
I will stare down the sun once more.
