Obey, and be lost forever. Disobey, and live like a coward.
I am who I am,
And I will change for no one.
The words that you whispered have folded, and died.
Get up off those knees, and retract those cold hands,
For you, are no longer needed.
I will stand here with my own sense of pride,
My own sense of love and strength,
Until the day I can no longer stand.
So stop trying to mould me into the person you want me to be.
As I stand here upon your grave,
Feeling no remorse,
Your last words still ring in my head,
‘You will follow me’
Clutching the flag on which you served,
My heart moved with the sound of bugles,
I turn and I whisper,
‘No’
