A short insight into a visit to my local library.
Library

"It's Liberry not Library you idiot!"
"Yea course it is! The place you go to read and learn has been given a name that sounds like an exotic fruit!
Please can you take your z-list celebrity biography and leave!"

For all the distractions I have at home,
the TV
the internet
the fridge full of food,
they're all still more distracting than this group of 10 year olds that are running around me.
Surely I wouldn't be gaining inspiration from the joys of sit-com life,
but here I still feel a sanctuary for my mind working and flowing,
without a hundred companies screaming attention at me to buy their goods.

You have the greying, wrinkly lot,
an OAP youth club in a way.
Whether they come to read the paper cos its free,
or to have that feeling of community you get.
If libraries never closed and were open all night,
it would give the homeless a place to sleep and educate themselves.
Surely the two main obstacles in getting off the streets?

The joys of these new all encompassing government buildings,
a library and a doctors surgery under one roof.
Never again will I have to go to two separate buildings,
when I wish to catch a cold and loan a book.
