my experience of daughters graduation
Bobbing black gowns and mortarboards,
Excited chattering in huddled hoards.
Enthralled emotion hovers in the sky,
Pride gulped back, trying not to cry,
To see her in her cap and gown,
Its worth more than any jeweled crown.
Relief relinquished in heaving sighs,
Swelling tears in my eyes.
My mind goes back to baby days
Then through school's frantic frays.
All those nights of working through
Homework that was alien to you.
All the tears for art gone wrong,
Putting it right all night long.
Tea-time talks of dreams and fears,
Telling of experience over the years.
All in an attempt to make them see,
Work hard and better life will be!
But shes done it - done it at last!
Worked so hard, exams all passed
Mortarboards flying in the air,
Cheering cries accumulate there.
Graduation -end of university days,
Hopeful of the rewards it pays.
