The summer before college.
We talked about getting wasted tonight.
It was a game of no lies,
no question left unanswered.

Have you ever been wasted?

All of us had drank before,
our parents well informed.
Your Mama & Daddy
gave you sips to taste before you start.
I wish, I wish that I could follow
your stories all the same.
But the truth does not lie,
different we remain.

We talked about getting wasted tonight.
You drink to drink,
to party,
to have a ball.
I drink to forget,
to numb,
to poison.
You can stop the drinks,
go home and
crash.
I choke back
shot
after
shot.
Memories fading,
pain subsiding.

We talked about getting wasted tonight.
Your first time was the last.
My addiction pulls me in,
keeping me
close.
Forget, forget,
forget.

We talked about getting wasted tonight,
your reasons different than mine.
