In a meadow field - a series of haikus
In a meadow field
In the midst of tallest green
And barely unseen
Bloomed a flower sweet
I went to pick it for you
It was red and blue
And looked so alone
The only one of its kind
Meant for me to find
I went towards it
Its splendour small yet divine
It had to be mine
Mine to give to you
So I picked it with great care
And let it lie there
In my hand so sweet
Its blossoms shone in the light
I drew in their might
For a mere moment
The world stood silent and still
I looked at the hill
Beyond which you were
I walked at first, then I ran
Ran like the wind can
At the top I stopped
I saw you standing below
I felt my heart grow
You looked so beautiful
Your face, luminous and bright
Quite the splendid sight
But amidst the sun
Next to your shadow there stood
One more than there should
‘Twas of another
Who stood closely by your side
And held you with pride
You seemed so content
To have found old love again
My soul filled with pain
And like the flower
I was alone, red and blue
And I cried for you
As you were long gone
Together once, now apart
I stood with hurt heart
With flower in hand
I no longer let tears yield
In the meadow field
