Permanence is impossible.
Time rasps away the years
whittling away the flimsy skeleton of ambition
progress crushing minutes to sand.

Wooden orchestras play intricate rumours of faith, colliding
logic and love in a flood of math.
Fragile humility fractures beneath crumpled skins and pitiful pacts
what is left but childish cries of unfairness.

the scales cave in, heaving tortured thunder claps
leaving bleeding marks of permanence
as I feel the fleeting millimetres between here and then.
Inheriting riotous urges to pull on the splitting hairs suspending the
shattered bulbs casting darkness upon the present
granting us vain sight and careless genius.

My spine splinters between opportunity and failure
existence is accepting life is a lie
as we slowly sink, to our deaths
anchored to the second our hearts start and stop.
