I wrote this for a dear friend who was terminally ill, he has sadly passed away now.
More than a  Friend

I really think its time I said exactly how I feel
But I am holding back you know
Although I want to tell you so
Because I want to hold you tight
And look into your eyes
and tell you that I love you
But I know its no surprise

But I’m afraid that if I wait
Perhaps you’ll never know,
I’m sure you know already
Even though I haven’t told you so
Who knows, there might be obstacles,
I might not tell you when I should,
And then I’ll wish with all my heart
I’d told you when I could

The feelings that I have for you
Are far more than a friend
You’ve been there when I needed you
On you I could depend
You’ve always had such patience
You’ve been there day and night
You’ve  given me some good advice
And  usually been right

You’ve sympathised when I’ve been sad
You listen to me when I’m mad
And now you know me inside out
And that is love. I have no doubt
No matter what the future holds
I wanted you to know
I haven’t got a better friend
Or one that I love so.
