Free verse poem on love and death
tonight I sleep with a feathered rose
entangled with sour memories
the promises of life
but the truth that everyone dies
the truth that everyone leaves
but abandonment aside
it ensures the constant pain
of love
love of friends
love of family
romantical love
and all other love
the pain that eventually it will end
and every time it is strengthened
it cuts a bit more
it weakens you
and works to destroy you
and after so many lost
destroy you it will
some go mad
some get mad
some just simply die
but the same fate rests on all of us
who love and let love into our lives
the saying goes
it is better to have loved and lost
then never loved at all
but how true is this idealistic statement
moreover how true is love
is it always worth the pain
that is inevitable
and with time
will strike
and the cuts will be deepest
the longer you hold on
so why even try
what is the point to love
and its simple instant gratification
all it is is a good feeling
but even that lasts only for a moment
and in a flash
its gone
love is like a drug
inducing brief euphoria
but is slowly eating away at your soul
enabling regret
and shame
and fear
and yes, even death
