Traditional Poetry Contest Entry - Observations on life.
Seven men
of every ten
are fitted to disaster.
Of the three
but one will be
well suited as a master.

Now the two
left of the few
may mold and shape the story.
One pays dues
and one will choose
a graceful path to glory.

Seven give
the life they live
in service to their neighbor.
From their birth
till flesh meets earth
they're taught to love this labor.

One says he
is sure to be
above this hard devotion.
Two will know
how to bestow
an order from commotion.

Seeing strife
throughout this life
I've come to these conclusions.
Thus the fact
remains intact‒
the rest are just illusions.

Long in tooth
one untold truth
I'll keep from those deluded.
This I save
for me and grave‒
my journey's now concluded.
