They where banned,now they're in danger,their country needs saving,and only they can help.
Chapter 1

    As I looked around all I saw was gray, gray everything.  I was alone, no one was there but then I heard a voice.  It was raspy and it sounded ancient but new.
    "Hello, Rose. How are you, my darling?"
    "Who are you?" I answered wondering how this man knew my name.  I could see him now; he had on a long black trench coat and a hat pulled down low over his face which I could not see at all.
    "Me?" he asked,"I am who you are going to help.  You'll see, my darling, later in time." Then the man disappeared and the image became clearer.  There were buildings; half of them built in like ancient times and the other was like they came from the future.  There were people, too, some dressed up real fancy like and the other wore like gothic and emo clothing.
    Then the view changed and I was sitting at home but no one was anywhere in sight, but then there was a guy about eighteen that I had never seen before.
    "Hello, Rose.  Are you ready?" he said in a British accent
    "Ready for what?" I said. " I don't even know you."
    "Of course you do, Rose, and I'm here to help.  If you let me." he said. Then he touched my arm and it felt so real and then I realized...

    "Ow...you slapped me," a familiar voice said.
    "I'm so sorry.  Are you okay, Aiden?" Realizing I had slapped my boyfriend. " You know you're not supposed to be in here, right?"
    "Yes, but your mom told me to wake you up.  She said we're about to go site seeing." he said with dread in his voice.
    "Really now?  Do you regret coming with us?" I asked.
    "Not at all," he said kissing me, " because I get to spend every...well, almost every moment with you." He got up then and left the room so I could get dressed.  I decided to wear my black and pink tank top with some shorts and my converses.
    My mom, twin sister, and me took a family vacation to Rome, Italy this year.  Surprisingly she told me that Aiden could come with us if his dad didn't mind and of course his dad didn't "mind".  He never cared where Aiden was at; as long as it was away from him.  Aiden and I have been dating for about two years now and his dad never once showed any interest in getting to know me.  Now Aiden pretty much lives with us.  Which is perfectly fine with me.
    I walked out the room to find Aiden waiting for me.  I gave him a kiss right when my mom walked out of her room.
    "You two don't need to be doing that," she said.
    "Mom, we're sixteen it doesn't matter." I said laughing. " At least we aren't sleeping with each other. We know to save that for marriage."
    She gave me a disgusted look and said, " Come on, your sister's waiting in the lobby." I laced my fingers into Aiden's and we walked down to the lobby.

Chapter 2

         We decided to stop sight seeing for awhile and eat lunch at a restaurant called Da Giggetto al Porticodi Ottavia.  It had been there since 1929 and it had a Roman Jewish cuisine.  We decided to order a little bit of everything like: fried artichokes, Barberini pizza, grilled vegetables and fish (red mullet, bream, sea bass), Marinated Zucchini Prove, and for dessert we just ordered Bollo; which is a soft spongy cake studded with raisins and candied fruit.
              As we where ordering this man kept walking  back and forth; I thought it was pretty peculiar and every time he went by he always stared at me which personally it creeped me out.  The last time he walked by we locked eyes and it was strange.  One eye was blue and the other green and he had scars all over his face, but the really strange part though was that I felt like I knew him.  When he noticed I was starring at him; his mouth started moving and then I blinked and all of a sudden he was gone.  I was shocked and confused.  Apparently nobody else in the restaurant seemed to notice him.
         “Rose,…Rose.  HEY!” Then I realized Alice was calling me and my mom and Aiden where starring at me.
         “The waiter wants to know what you would like to drink.” Aiden said.
         “Oh, I’m sorry.  Water, please.  Thank you.” The waiter walked off and we waited.

         That night before bed Aiden and I where sitting on my bed talking.
         “What was with you today?  After we left that restaurant you where acting strange.” he said.
         “Nothing,” I said knowing he wouldn’t believe me if I told him what I saw.
         “Darling, there was something wrong.  I could see it in your eyes; you looked scarred to death.”
         “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
         “Try me,” he said with that sexy smirk that he knows I hate because it gets me to tell him anything.
         “Okay,” I said, “I saw this man.  One eye was blue and the other green and his face was all scared.  And I felt like…I felt like I knew him, Aiden. Also he was starring at me and me only.  When he noticed I saw him, his lips started to move like he was saying something.  Then I blinked and he was gone.  But the thing that scares me the most is that I don’t think anyone else saw him, Aiden, I’m so scarred.  What’s wrong with me?”  Then I realized I had been crying the whole time.  That’s when Aiden came closer and held me.
         “Nothing’s wrong with you, Rose.  I don’t know what to say.  But we’ll figure it out.  I love you.” he said. “I’m here for you.”
         A few hours later Aiden kissed me goodnight and he left for his room.  I didn’t go to bed straight away, but when I did it was straight to a dream.

         I was back at the gray place where half the buildings where ancient and the other half futuristic.  Where half the people where dressed fancy and the other dressed gothic and emo.
         The man who was in my first dream was sitting on a bench and I was forced to walk towards him.
         “Sit, my darling,” he said.
         “Why am I here again? Is this a dream?  What is this place?  Who are you?…” I started asking but he cut me off.
         “Wait, Rose, one question at a time.” he said in his ancient but new voice.
         “My name is Elijah.  That is all you need to know for now.  The rest about me you will find out later, when you come here in reality.”
         “Is this a dream, Elijah?” I asked next because it surely didn’t feel like one.
         “No, my darling, it is not.  I’ve contacted you through the minds and created this image for you to make you comfortable, not to scare you.  But this place you’re looking at is real.”
         “What is this place, exactly?”
         “It’s my home.  It’s where you’re supposed to be.  Where you will soon be again.  It’s called Aldiera.  Half ancient, half new.  It’s a powerful place.”
                "Why am I supposed to be there?"
         “You’ll find out soon enough.” was all he said which made me worry.
         “Well since I’m here now I might as well ask you.  Do you know a man who has one green eye and the other blue and has scars on his face?”
         “I do,” he said I couldn’t tell what his facial expression was because he still wore the hat but I could tell there was hate in his voice, “his name is Alzar.  He’s dangerous.  Whatever you do stay away from him.  He wants to destroy you but he can’t because he isn’t in his full form.  Look at me I’ve said too much already.  I send you back now.  Keep safe, my darling.” he said. Then I felt a rush and I sat up quickly and realized I was back at the hotel in Rome.  I looked at the clock and saw it was only three in the morning.  My head hit the pillow and I was instantly back asleep.

Chapter 3

         As he ran his hand across the sliver picture frame of Rose he whispered, “I’ll find you, my love, and bring you back.” He walked down the hall and found Rose’s room.  He opened the door and breathed in the scent which smelled of vanilla and flowers.  He looked around and found pictures on the dresser.
         “So, you’ve found a new love, my dear, but you can’t possible love that human and you’ll soon remember me.” He walked out of her room; taking a single picture of her, and walked to Alice’s room and then Aiden’s.  Finally, he walked to Rose’s mom’s room and found the computer still on.  He turned the screen saver off and found a page up that showed Rome, Italy.
         “So, that must be where you are, my love.” He turned the screen saver back on.
         As he is walking out the front door one of the neighbors walked by.
         “Excuse me, who are you?”
         “Oh, I’m Jack Clay.” he answered lying. “I’m Jane’s nephew.  She asked me to watch her house while she’s gone on vacation.”
         “Okay, I just didn’t know if you where some prowler or not.”
         “No, ma’am. I am not. Have a nice day now.” Jack said walking away towards his car.
         As he drove to the airport he thought soon, my darling, soon I will have you back.  You and your sister will be brought back to the place you where so wrongly banned, you will be back with me.  Because you my love, you my Rose belong in Aldiera no matter what the council believes.

Chapter 4

         “Elijah, what am I doing back here?” I asked confused because he hadn’t contacted me in over a month.
         “Alice, there are things you need to know and things you need to do.”
         “Like what?”
         “Alzar is getting more powerful…”
         “But I don’t understand any of this.  I mean I know he was this powerful guy.  But I don’t know why, I don’t know why he wants me and Rose dead.  Why won’t you tell me?” I said frustrated.
         “Alice, I’m sorry but I can’t tell you yet!” he said getting mad.  I was fixing to say something smart when a building in the background exploded. “You have to leave, Alice, wake up it’s not safe.”
         I was slammed into my body just as the glass from my window exploded.  I had just enough time to throw my arms up to cover my face but some of it still cut me.  As shards of glass rained down a scaled claw gripped the side of the window.  I jumped out of the bed and ran towards the door as I reached it, it flew open.  Standing in the doorway is a tall guy, who had black hair and real bright green eyes.  In his hand is a deadly looking dagger.
         “Get behind me, Alice, now!” the guy shouted and I didn’t hesitate.  The creature had finished crawling through the window and it looked like a crocodile but it is five times the size of a normal one.  The strange guy threw the dagger and it struck the monster straight in the chest.  It gave an unearthly howl and disintegrated right in front of my eyes.  “Are you hurt, Alice?” I noticed he had a British accent, but too stunned to speak I just shook my head even though I had blood running down my face from the glass.
         “You need to go get Rose and get whoever else is with you.  I’ll be waiting here.”
         I took off down the hall right then.
~~~
         Elijah had cuts on his face; I noticed as soon as I saw him. “What happened to you?”
         “Nothing, Rose. But you have to wake up now and go to your sister.”
         As soon as he said it, I was wide awake running towards the door.  When I opened it; Alice is standing on the threshold with her hand posed to knock.  I took a look at her face and noticed the blood instantly then I saw the guy standing down the hallway watching us.  I realized I had seen him somewhere before but I couldn’t remember where.
         “Alice, what happened to you!?”
         “The glass exploded in my window and then this thing came crawling through and then that guy busted into my room and killed it and told me to come get you and Mom and Aiden..” she said speaking hysterically.
         “It’s okay, Alice, calm down.” I went to our mom’s door and pounded on it.  She opened the door and looked at us then saw the guy down the hall.
         “Jack…” she said stunned.
         The guy, Jack, nodded his head and walked towards us. “Mrs. Erondale, it’s time.” his voice solemn and depressed taking a long look at me before turning his attention back to our mom, or at least I thought she was our mom.
         “Ummm…What’s going on?  Why did he just call you Mrs. Erondale?  And what does he mean by ‘It’s time’?  And who is he?” I asked confused and frustrated.
                “We can’t explain now.  Jack, you take Rose and Alice back to the states, to my home.  Aiden and I will be back by tomorrow, maybe.  And, Jack, don’t forget the potion.” Jack nodded and took off down the hallway ushering Alice and me in front of him.  I looked back and saw the-woman-who-I-thought-was-our-mom close her door.
~~~

         The dagger protruded from her chest as she looked down at it, she looked back up at the face responsible and fell to the floor.
         As Aiden looked down upon her cold body, he smiled, “Sweet dreams, my Rose, sweet dreams.”

         Aiden bolted upright in his bed with cold sweats. “It’s just a dream,” he said to himself, “I could never hurt Rose.”
         He sat there for a long time rocking back and forth not being able to go back to sleep; telling himself the same thing over and over again for that had not been the first dream he had, had like that.

Chapter 5

         The house is quiet except for the guy named Jack slamming cabinets and opening them, looking for pots, herbs, and spices.
         “Look!  If you tell me what you’re looking for I can help you.”
         He slammed another cabinet and gave me this look that said shut up. “I can’t tell you what I’m looking for and I don’t need your help!”
         “I’m so freaking tired of people telling me they can’t tell me something!  First Elijah and…”
         “Wait, you know Elijah?” Alice said interrupting me.
         “Yeah, it’s this weird guy that’s been contacting me for the last few days; telling me things about this guy named Alzar and a place called Aldiera, why?”
         “Because I know him, too.  He’s been contacting me for over a month now.”
         “Well, that’s just great.  He just doesn’t know how to wait!” I heard Jack murmur under his breath.
         “What do you mean he doesn’t know how to wait?” I asked making Jack go over the edge.
         He slammed his hand on the counter and opened another cabinet. “Nothing!”
         I drew in a breath and said nothing else, then I walked to the living room with Alice.

         A few minutes later Jack came into the living room carrying a tray with two cups on it.
         “Oh, Jack!  I think you forgot the cookies.” I said sarcastically.
         “Just shut up and drink this.”
         “I’m not drinking anything you give me.  It might be poisonous.”
         “It’s not.  It’s a potion that I have to give you before I can tell you anything.”
         “Oh, goodie.  Then let me just chug this right on down!”
         “Rose, will you just shut your sarcastic mouth for one minute and listen to Jack.”
         “Oh, excuse me, Alice, for trusting a complete stranger that I just met a few hours ago and that just magically busted into your room to ‘save’ you!”
         “But, Rose, he’s not a stranger.  I didn’t realize until now, but…”
         “Alice, you can’t tell her anything Elijah told you until she drinks this.  I also can’t tell either of you more until you drink this.” Jack said cutting her off. “Before you drink this; both of you give your right arm.”
         Alice held her’s out first and Jack took a hold of it.  He traced his finger on the inside of her wrist and as he did it a faint black glow followed his finger and left its mark upon Alice’s wrist.  When he was done, the mark looks like a circle with an eye in the middle and wings on the outside.  It was very strange.  Then he drew the same thing on my arm but instead of it glowing black; it glowed red.
         “Wait, why did mine glow red instead of black like Alice’s?”
         “I’ll tell you after you drink this.” Jack lingered for a moment holding my arm in his hand then he dropped it like I had burned him.  I looked into his eyes and they where sad and he looked like he was longing for something.  I wondered what had happened to him.
         He handed both of us a glass.  The smell was strong but also sweet and the color was that of an ocean.  He told us to drink and we did.  It was warm and tasted like mint, honey, and other unknown things.  I felt weird all of a sudden like I was going to pass out then my vision went black.  I saw images; flashes of angels with humans, then unnatural creatures, Alzar, Elijah, Aldiera, a group of hooded figures at a table with two girls standing in front of them.  Oddly it looked like Alice and me then I realized it was Alice and me.  The visions stopped then and everything went back to black.

Chapter 6

         He didn’t know how long he had been watching Rose sleep thinking about the way she looked when they would lay beside each other.  Hoping that when he told her everything she would remember them,  he was startled when she opened her eyes.
         “Jack?” her voice soft like it used to be.
         “Yes, Rose?”
         “What happened?”
         “It was the potion and mark working.  Come on into the living room; Alice woke up a few hours ago.”
         They walked into the living room Rose sitting on the couch beside her sister and Jack sitting in the recliner across from them.
         “So where should I start?” he asked watching Rose.
         “From the very beginning.” Alice spoke her voice shaky.
         “Well, Aldiera is a secret country that was created thousands of years ago.  It was created to show the ancient things of angels and the new things of humankind.  A very long time ago the angels where cast down to Earth and they mated with human women which created the first race of nephilim.  Ever since then anyone born of two nephilim parents became a nephilim.  You, Alice and Rose, are nephilim, but you are more powerful than any known nephilim.  That is because both of your parents where of the second race of nephilim.  See nephilim age really slow so they may be sixteen for forty to fifty years.  There was this one guy named Alzar that was terrible.  He wanted to be the most powerful, he wanted to rule everything.  Nephilim, demons, humans, and even the angels.  When the council found out about it they striped him of his nephilim powers which is why he has the scars on his face.  But the council didn’t know that he could regain his nephilim powers back and become more powerful than that if he drank the blood of a Greater Demon first then the blood of an ancient nephilim.  He has already drank the blood of a Greater Demon already.  Well sixteen years ago you both lived in Aldiera.  Alzar knew about ya’ll so he wanted you dead, but he couldn’t touch ya’ll because ya’ll where, too, powerful.  Instead he created demons that looked just like ya’ll to associate with other demons.  The council saw this and thought it was ya’ll but they where wrong.  So they held a trial and found you guilty.  They didn’t strip you of being a nephilim but they did take away all of your memories and made your powers dormant.  They made you turn back to children and sent Mrs. Erondale to raise you as human kids.  The council was almost unanimous except for one person which was your dad.  He told Mrs. Erondale to contact him when ya’ll turned sixteen so he could send me to come get ya’ll.  He did this because Aldiera is in trouble and ya’ll are the only ones who can stop Alzar for good.” he watched their expressions to see what would happen.
         “Will we ever get our memories fully back?” It was Rose.
         “Yes, that’s the good thing about the potion and mark.”
         “Why did mine glow red instead of black like Alice’s?”
         “The mark I traced on ya’ll is the mark of the nephilim.  It helps awaken your powers.  Every nephilim has the mark, but every nephilim mark glows a different color.  Mine for example glows gold.  When you’re in battle or fighting a demon; the mark glows and calls upon the angelic power.”
         “Why did you stop Alice from telling me you weren’t a stranger?  Who are you, Jack?”
         Jack hung his head in his hand and looked back up at Rose.
         “I am Jack Roweland.  Sixteen years ago before you where banned from Aldiera.  We had a relationship, we where together for three years and we where in love.  Rose, you don’t have to believe me because of Aiden and everything, but it’s true and Alice knows it, too, that’s what she was going to tell you.”
         She looked at Alice then back at Jack.
         “It’s true, Rose.” Alice said backing Jack up.
         “But I don’t understand!  Wouldn’t I remember something like that?”
         “I told you, Rose.  All your memories where erased.”
         “But I couldn’t have loved you.  I love Aiden.  None of this can be true.”
         “Look, Rose…”
         “No, you look, Jack, I don’t love you and I never will!” she took off to her room then slamming the door.
         He couldn’t believe he had told her.  How stupid could he be, he knew she wouldn’t believe him knowing how she felt about Aiden.
         “Jack, she’ll come around.”
         He looked up and saw Alice touching his arm.
         “You really believe that, Alice?”
         “Yeah, I believe you and she will soon, too.  You just have to give her time.  I remember almost everything now.  Ya’ll have been apart for sixteen years and she fell in love with someone else.  Don’t blame her, Jack.”
         “I don’t.  It’s been so long; I forgot how smart you are.”  Jack stood up then and gave Alice a hug.

~~~
         That night all of my memories came back.  I saw everything Jack had told us and more.  I saw memories from when we where born to when we where banned.  I didn’t have a boyfriend in the states nor one in Aldiera but I had been with plenty of guys; I found out, in both places.  I found out our dad is Elijah which was no surprise considering how he acted when he would contact me.  Our mom’s name is Alighn and our last name is Starlit.
         I felt bad for Rose because she couldn’t remember everything yet.  I also felt bad for Jack because he is really in love with her and she was really in love with him.
         The next morning Mrs. Erondale and Aiden returned.  I walked into the kitchen to find Jack and Aiden yelling at each other.
         “What did you do to her!?” Apparently they told Aiden what we where.
         “I didn’t do anything to her, human, and you better watch who you’re yelling at!”
         “Jack, calm down.” came Mrs. Erondale’s soft voice. “You, too, Aiden.”
         “Yeah, Aiden, she’s in her room .  How about you go see if you can talk to her?” I finally said.  After he walked off Mrs. Erondale turned to Jack. “What did you tell her?”
         “I told her everything.”
         “But…”
         “He told her about them.”
         Mrs. Erondale slapped Jack in the back of the head. “What did you go and do that for?”
         “She had to know.”
         “Oh gosh, you didn’t tell her about the wedding did you?”
         At the same time I said, “Wedding!?” Jack said, “No.”
         “Good and yes, Alice.  Jack and Rose where supposed to get married, but ya’ll where banned before it could happen and Jack was devastated.  See they knew they where going to be with each other forever, and nephilim weddings are different it binds the two people together forever.  Unless of course one of them dies.  But anyways Elijah and Alighn will be glad you have all your memories back.”
         “Do you think Rose will get her’s back?”
         “Yes, you where just always a little ahead of  her.” Mrs. Erondale smiled and walked off.
Chapter 7
         Aiden looked down as Rose slept in his arms, he was about to close his eyes when the sound of a knock came and the door opened.
         “Hey. Aiden.  We’re about to head out to get something to eat.” It was Alice her voice low as if not to disturb Rose.
         “Okay, I’m just going to stay here with Rose.”
         “I understand,” she said nodding her head.  She walked out and closed the door, Aiden closed his eyes again and fell asleep.
         “Hello, Aiden.  How are you?” said a cold voice.
         “Who…  What am I doing here?”
         “It’s a dream, Aiden, in a way.  Come here so we can talk.”
         “No…  I don’t want to be here.”
         “Come here!”
         “No,” he said again frozen where he stood.
         “You dare defy your master!” yelled the cold voice and his eyes flashed; one was green and the other blue.
         “Wait, I know you in a way.  Rose saw you in that restaurant we where at.” Aiden said stunned. “What do you want from me?”
         “You’re my servant, Aiden.  Do you remember a few years ago when you ran away from home; when you, Rose, and Alice just started becoming friends?”
         “Yeah.”
         “Do you remember walking down that alleyway and you ran into a man and he said he could give you a place to live for a little while?”
         “Sort of but how do…”
         “That man was me, Aiden.  I am Alzar.  I took you back to my place and injected you with something.  You thought it was drugs and you felt good.  But, Aiden, it was demon blood.  I have been brainwashing you ever since.  You are half demon.  Do you ever have dreams where you kill Rose and you have to kill Alice?”
         “Yes,” he said in a trance now.
         “You must do that for real now, Aiden.  Because they have to die before I can kill an ancient nephilim and come to my full power.  Come here, Aiden.”
         Aiden hesitated for a second then he walked towards Alzar.
         “Give me your right arm, Aiden.”
         He lifted his right arm and Alzar began to trace something on his arm; he also spoke while doing that.  Aiden couldn’t tell what he was saying, but he did pick up a few words like: Rose, Alice, kill, demon, strong, powerful.  When he was done with the mark it looked like a rope with a knot in the middle and vines coming off of it.
         “The mark stands for control and binding so you’ll be bound to me no matter what.  Now go do your job.”
         Aiden sat up in bed and found Rose gone.  He felt his arm burning and lifted it.  He looked down and saw the mark Alzar left upon his arm.  He felt a burning anger in him but not towards Alzar.  Aiden actually wanted to kill Rose; he got up and walked to the door.  As he was leaving he looked in the mirror and he noticed his eyes had went from their sky blue to red; at that he smiled.
~~~

         I was in the kitchen making me something to eat when I heard a noise.
         “Aiden?” I said turning around but no one was there.  I went back to making my sandwich then I felt arms around my waist and I jumped.
         “Geesh, Aiden.  You scared me.”
         “Sorry, baby.”
         I was about to finish my sandwich when I felt a stinging at my neck.  I looked down and I saw blood spilling onto a knife I didn’t even notice was there.
         “Aiden, what are you doing!?” I asked hysterically
         “What I was told to do, darling.  Don’t you just love it?  The beauty of the blood and it’s crimson color, I mean.”
         That was the first time I noticed his voice was different.
         “Aiden, you’re scaring me.”
         “Am I now?”
         That’s when I caught him off guard.  I jabbed my elbow into him and I got out of his grip and ran for the door.  I didn’t think of how fast he was, but in no time he had me to the ground and was trying to stab me but I kept fighting.
~~~
         Jack felt a stinging in his wrist.  He looked down and saw his mark glowing.
         “Hey, I think something’s wrong with Rose.”
         “How do you know?”
         “Because, Alice, when your mark glows that also means another nephilim is in trouble.”
         “Well then what are we waiting for.  We have to get home!”
         They left the restaurant and rushed home.  Jack ran up the stairs and heard the crashes come from inside the house.  He kicked the door open and the sight was terrible.  There was furniture knocked over and pictures off the wall.  He looked over at the big bay window and saw Aiden on top of Rose with a knife in his hand and blood covering Rose.  Jack reached for his dagger but before he could throw it, Aiden crashed through the window and took off running.
         Jack rushed to Rose’s side.
         “No!” she screamed. “Get away from me!”
         “Jack, go.” Mrs. Erondale said softly.
         Jack left running out the house, he didn’t know when he would come back but Rose’s scream haunted him for the next eight hours.
~~~

         After I washed the blood off Rose, nursed the cuts, and got her to bed it was two in the morning.  I walked towards the den where I heard voices.  Apparently, Jack decided to come back to the house.
         “I should have never left her alone with him.  I should have known there was something wrong with him.  I shouldn’t be even calling him a him.  I should be calling it a demon.  Did you see his eyes, Mrs. Erondale?  They where freaking red…”
“Jack, it’s not your fault.  Don’t blame yourself.” I said before he could go on.
         “What do you know about fault, Alice!?”  You only regained your powers yesterday and you’re talking like you know everything!”
         “Hey! Don’t yell at me!  I’m trying to make you feel better because it’s nobody’s fault this happened!”
         “Jack, Alice, calm down.  Jack, Alice is right it’s not your fault , nor mine, nor Alice’s.  How do you think I feel?  I’ve known the kid ever since they all started becoming friends and then I let him move in here when him and Rose started dating.”
         “Don’t call it human.  It’s a demon for God’s sake!”
         “I know that, Jack Roweland.  And don’t you dare yell at me.”
         Jack leaned against the wall and hung his head.  He looked terrible like maybe he had been drinking and I felt bad for him.
         “So, what happens now?”
         “We have to get ya’ll to Aldiera.” Mrs. Erondale said swaying a bit from tiredness.
         “How?”
         “There’s a witch in Athens we have to go to.  She’ll get us there.”
         “Well why didn’t we go straight there from Rome instead of coming all the way home to Colorado!” frustrated now I started biting my nails.
                “Because ya’ll didn’t have your powers.  Normal people can’t travel through portals or go to Aldiera.”
         “Oh.”
         “We’ll go this weekend so Rose can have time to rest.” Mrs. Erondale walked away to go to bed.
         “Jack?”
         “I don’t want to talk about it, Alice.  Though I am sorry I yelled at you.”
         I nodded my head and gave him a hug and walked to my room; leaving Jack to think in his own darkness.
