Night retreats to make way for a new dawn
Shadows retreating as minutes tick by,
The blackness of night begins to die
And light regains its throne.

Songbirds rise and begin to wake,
Wind causes dew on the leaves to shake
As sunlight warms frozen stone.

The sky's a fire of vibrant hues,
Making gems of simple morning dew
Small clouds roll in the sky.

They drift, tainted, by vibrant light
For dawn has beat the lonesome night
And a single songbird flies.
