A poem about losing someone you love very much.
I was going through the closet,
When I came upon a box,
Filled with letters and poems,
And things I thought I lost.

As I dug down to the bottom,
My hand found a surprise,
When I brought it to the surface,
My heart began to rise.

It was a heart made of paper,
You gave to me one day,
To tell how much you loved me,
To show me another way.

It was pink with lace around it,
"I love you" is all it said,
You gave to me one night,
Shortly after we were wed.

I sat there in that closet,
The heart held to my chest,
Remembering the love we shared,
When times were at their best.

The tears fell down for hours,
As I thought of all the love,
We shared for that short time,
Till God called you above.

I laid in the bed we shared,
And cried myself to sleep,
Awoke holding the paper heart,
Again began to weep.

I prayed for God to hold you,
Till we're no longer apart,
And I can show my love for you,
Just like this paper heart.
