wonder what you thing
From across the room I heard a voice say “You really need to get out the house.”  Too concerned with the problems I was having at the moment, I didn’t really say anything audible. I just turned and muttered some sounds in agreeance.
“I know just the place…… Just wait right there, I’ll call and see if there is a room available for the night.  After a night there you’ll feel like new.”
Caught up in whatever problems I was having at the time I didn’t really pay any attention to her. But it couldn’t have been ten minutes before there was a knock at the door. Obviously knowing who it was, she rushed to the door and revealed two men in uniform.  That’s when I started to wonder how rough I must have looked for my sister to think I needed such attention.
But it wasn’t their presence nor promptness that really impressed me; it was the level of service they provided.  From where I was, to the vehicle, I didn’t even have to walk.  They wheeled in a bed-like cart and insisted I be carried away on it.  There being so very few opportunities in life where you’re like the king being carried around in a sedan chair, I didn’t put up a fight.  The two men carried me all the way to vehicle when I realized they were not going to put me down.  They moved toward the back where they proceeded to load me in.  A sense of wonderment came over me as I thought to myself what kind of special treatment I would get when I got to where I was going.
Inside were wall to wall devices and gadgets built for keeping the passenger comfortable.  Apparently I was not at any of the acceptable levels for being leisurely because the next thing I knew he grabbed my arm and I felt a prick.  But before I could care what happened, the cold air I wore on my skin from the outside wind disappeared as if I just stepped into a warm bath.  Suddenly, the whole day washed away and all that was left was a feeling of serenity.  But as I was floating through oblivion, the whole time we must have been moving because my consciousness was thrown back into my body as abruptly as the brakes on the truck.  The doors then burst open and two new men in uniform started to unload me, pulling me out, feet first.  As my head made it outside the truck with the rest of my body, I saw in bright red letters on our destination’s front side….”HOSPITAL”.  I couldn’t help but think what a magical place this must be.
