This is a poem about the noisy nature of memories and the mind.
Skillfully, I dream
moments that never came
Drowning in memories
Mouth filling with words
Mind swimming with images
Reaching out for stability
finding no purchase
At the mercy of the storm

Tossed on an endless tide
Thoughts rolling in and out
Laughing, crying
screaming out in terror
No one hears
No one sees
I am completely alone
Rescue myself from myself

Seeing in a living nightmare
Praying for rest
Praying for quiet
The maelstrom pushes on
Blinding tales of long ago
Raising a serpent head
I am devoured
devoured by my own creation
