Response to prompt at The Writer's Cramp:
11 lines:

A young woman craves a spinach crepe
as she passes a diner with empty pockets
and a rumbling stomach.

A toddler screams, held back by his mother
As his yellow ball, bounces into the road to be flattened by a truck.

A little boy cries for a cedar truck spotted in a toy store
as his penniless parent drags him away.

The aspiring child ballerina with no rhythm or grace
and far too much fat on her bones,
dreams of a pink tutu wrapped festively in a box,
waiting by a sugary birthday cake.
