A poem about the sweetness and bitterness that love can be..
If Only
by:instinctive

If I ever crossed your mind, would you call,
or would it seem like I'm nothing at all?
The hole in my heart that's been punched
makes me wish that I was numb.

If only you were here with me
these days wouldn't seem so long.
If only I could share them with you
the nights would be warmer too.

When I saw you there were no words;
the sun couldn't be any brighter;
the moment couldn't be any better;
my mind couldn't be any clearer.

If only I could ask you your name,
I'd be able to swallow the shame.
If only you were not with this girl,
I could take her place instead.

This precious time I've cherished,
though I know that it shouldn't go on.
Now it's killin' me to see you leave,
cause I know If you turn your back on me
I 'll never see you again.
God, how do I deal with that?
You're the only reason I have to breathe.

If only you could hear my plea,
you would know how much it kills me.
If only you were mine to begin with,
there would be no need for these 'If Onlys'.
