But I won’t lie about who I am, I am nothing but a girl.
You said I was someone special,
with a heart of finest gold.
You said you would be quite lucky,
to have someone like me to hold.
But you know nothing about me,
or the pain I have been through.
You look at the outer me,
and see what you want to.
You said I wear my heart on my sleeve,
and my soul is soft and sweet.
If only you could see the tears,
that every night I weep.
I was one of God’s mistakes,
Born to be called damned.
I am not a masterpiece.
You are seeing more than I am.
You see a piece of heaven,
an angel with a silken wing.
Please just open your eyes.
The meer sight of me will sting.
You think you see something more,
a diamond amongst the pearls.
But I won’t lie about who I am,
I am nothing but a girl.
