I am working on a book and a big question faces me. To write in 1st person or 3rd person ?
Writers,

I am a beginner writer with only few articles on wine and travel (European cities) in my treasure chest.

I have recently started to work on a book. Its a part non-fiction, part fiction, part historic fiction, part magic realism, and part something else. I am a guy who is very fond of researching, finding reason and gathering information,  so one can only imagine how long this piece of work will take to finish; if at all i am able to finish it.

Talking about starting it first, there is a big problem. WHAT SHOULD BE THE NARRATIVE OF MY BOOK ???? Should i write in 1st person or 2nd person ??

About my book, i would like to inform you that its going to follow life of a fictional character in India, where the story will start. Its going to be a highly informative one as well. Needless to say that every piece of written work has some bits of its author in it. Which makes me feel that 1st person is very suitable as i pump in more feelings and humanity in the character. Where as 3rd person i believe gives the author more freedom of creation. In my opinion, a fictional story is best written in 3rd form.

But keeping my agenda aside, i would like to get a general opinion from you. Which narrative do you think is better ? And why? I would really like to know what style is more commonly used by writers and the reasons behind it. I have read top books by great authors in both styles. Is it just a personal choice, or is the decision based on the topic, size, tense, genre, character definition and other things.

What i choose to do, only time will tell. But i would really appreciate if you could take some time and give me your views on this matter. Do you write/like to write in 1st person or in 3rd person ? Please also brief the reasons.

i am waiting for you comments /  Luv Gupta is waiting for you comments.

Have a good day.
