Kayleigh was tired of always being yelled at,and decided to do what she was expected to do
The memory of this event brings sorrow. I had forgotten about it until now. I remember the yelling, the madness, and the unstoppable crying. I locked myself in the bathroom after the fight, and tears ran down my face. The words,"It's all my fault" were rushing through my mind and coming out of my mouth. The heavy breathing made me feel like I was suffocating.
The sudden knocking on the bathroom door startled me because i feared it was him. My moms voice said, "Kayleigh, please come out." I couldn't reply to her request,my voice would not come out. It's as if i had become mute, the word that i wanted to say were stuck in my throat .I was relieved when I heard the sound of her footsteps fading away slowly.
The vision of what had happend kept on replaying in my mind. I never thought that the little bit of appreciation I wanted so much would turn into a complete disaster .The day before he yelled at me about not doing something for his friend, that needed to be done soon. So that night, I worked hard, and all night, ingnoring all the spiders and other insects. I just wanted him to be proud of me, but it did not turn out that way at all.
When he got home, he noticed I did what he wanted, but he did not say anything. Of course I was upset because I atleast wanted him to say thank you. So when I was in the living room with mom, he came ina nd saw me crying. He was angered by this and went into a terrifying rage. He punched a hole in the wall, and this action scared me.
Mom tried to take my side, but it only made matters worse. He continued to yell at me,ignoring the pleas mom made for him to stop. I had had enough and yelled , "shut up!" two times. While running to the the bathroom, I heard mom arguing with dad. Later that night I finally came out of the bathroom, and went to my bed.
Apparently Dad heard me because he came into my bedroom apologizing in a sarcastic way. I couldn't face him because it was overwhelming at that time for me. So I ran from him and cried some more. That week, and the following week, seemed to have an akward silence at home and school. I'm still scared when he gets that look in his eyes. But I've moved on and relized, that I will have to just live with this constant fear.
