The captivating power and force of the Sea.
I was the Sand and you were the Sea;
Everyday you would come to me,
Bring me tales from unknown lands,
Place priceless treasures into my hands,
Your power, your beauty, your depth, your awe,
It was you I would cradle, defend and restore,

For I was the Sand and you were the Sea;
Your craving, your yearning to always be free,
No tie could hold you. No word, nor command,
What strength was there in mere grains of sand?
The sound of your pride, thundering on my shore,
My voice but a whisper to your deafening roar,

I was the Sand and you were the Sea;
Everyday you would come to me,
To pound out your fury on my broken back,
Until the blood in me boiled, burned and turned black,
Your strength, your rage, your passion, your greed,
I was enslaved, bound by your need,

For I was the Sand and you were the Sea;
Decades of agony for just seconds of glee,
Every moment together, of percipient touch,
More of me lost, till I'd lost far to much,
The waves slowly claiming one grain at a time,
I was forever yours; you'd never be mine,

I was the Sand and you were the Sea;
Everyday you would come for me,
Turning fierce granite into powdery dust,
The untold tax on unwavering lust,
Your cruelty, your kindness, my craving, your cause,
My screams for mercy, drowned out by applause.
